I have this image that came with a Dreamweaver template I'm using. It's basically a part of a banner at the top of a web page.

I want to put this logo on top of it in Photoshop as a new layer (with a transparent background), and then save the whole thing to put back into the template.

What type of file do I need to save the logo as before I place it on top of the other in Photoshop? The logo was created in Illustrator.

I'm not really a design student... just someone who dabbles in design work for a hobby.

No need for anything fancy here. Just select your logo in illustrator, copy it, switch over to photoshop, paste it, size and position it to taste.

Save the final image and you are all set.
